    1. National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (NMMS)

    Overview

    It is necessary to understand that the National Merit Cum Means Scholarship (NMMS) is also planned to benefit super-caste students from poor economic backgrounds so as not to drop out at the secondary level. The scholarship motivates students to advance their schooling after eighth grade.


    Eligibility

    • The target consumers are students studying in class VIII.
    • The amount of money accruable from the parents should not exceed ₹1.5 lakh per annum.
    • Their academic qualification implies that he/she must have passed in class VII with not less than 55 marks (or its equivalent grade); SC/ST candidates are, however, given 5% pass mark relaxation.

    • a stipend of ₹12000 per annum for the duration of the courses, including holidays.

    • There is an additional paragraph written in the bulletin as follows: Students have to sit for a written examination at the state level.

    2. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)

    Overview

    KVPY is a national fellowship program funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, and is mainly conducted for students who want to make a career in science. It seeks to inspire students to take up research activities, especially in the sciences.


    Eligibility

    • Toppers from classes XI, XII, or the first year of undergraduate students who are studying basic sciences.
    • The minimum percent in the class X &XII examinations should be 75% (65% for SC, ST, and PWD).


    Benefits

    • Lump sum scholarship of ₹30,000 for undergraduate courses in the form of ₹5,000 per month.
    • Stipend of ₹7,000/- PM for postgraduate studies.


    Application Process

    • Applicants can apply for the KVPY through online mode, filling out the application form available on KVPY official website only.
    • Candidates must pass an aptitude test and an interview, and then they will be selected.

    3. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

    Overview

    College and University Students Scholarship scheme Central is provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and gives scholarships to meritorious students belonging to lower income groups.


    Eligibility

    • Degree holders from the grain processing industry to those who have scored above the 80th percentile in class XII.
    • The family income should not exceed ₹ 8,00, 000 per annum.
    • Should be enrolled in any typical, full-time bachelor's degree or master’s degree.


    Benefits

    • ₹10,000 per annum for undergraduate courses.
    • ₹20,000 per year for postgraduate courses.

    • To apply for this scholarship, one has to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

    4. INSPIRE Scholarship

    Overview

    These are the INSPIRE Scholarship for Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, intended to attract the best brains in the field of science to embrace researcher careers. This is the initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST). 


    Eligibility

    • Children belonging to the 1st percentile of the class XII boards.
    • Applicants should be registered in natural and/or basic sciences at the undergraduate or master’s degree level.


    Benefits

    • ₹80,000 per annum.

    • Application through the INSPIRE web page on the internet directly.
    • Employment of the pupils is done by selection, which is done through performance results and the recommendations set by the authorities.


    5. Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students

    Overview

    The Maulana Azad National Fellowship is given by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for minority students for doing M.Phil. and Ph.D.


    Eligibility

    • Minority community students include Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi students.
    • Must have gotten admission in M. Phil. or Ph.D. courses.
    • The annual income of the family should be less than ₹6 lakh.

    6. Post Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC Students

    7. AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls

    The AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls has been launched by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in order to help girl students complete their education in the technical stream.
